We are stoked to announce Ben Quinn as our latest Quicke’s ambassador.
Like any good South West relationship, Ben has a connection to the Quicke family that goes way back. Mary and Ben’s aunt spent many days discussing their immense passion for good food and fine art during their time in London, before both returning home to the west country to settle with their respective families.
Known for his ability to cooly marshal flaming grills, Ben’s career has seen him work with the likes of Honey & Co, Jamie Oliver and Meatopia. It’s clear that a love of food runs through his blood.
Putting down roots in Cornwall, a few years ago Ben launched his celebrated venture Woodfired Canteen.
"The reason I live in Cornwall is family,” he says. “Nature on your doorstep, surf on tap, and a likeminded community all make being a family down here, better and easier.”
The ethos around Woodfired Canteen is all about sharing stories through food. The focus of Ben’s cooking is;
people, passion and place.
“The whole process has taught me that the story is just as important as the plate of food; and telling stories around fires to good people leaves more than just a full belly.”
With a love for the Cornish coast and a passion for turning humble ingredients into magical memories it’s fitting that Ben has joined our tribe.
We spent a few days with Ben lighting fires and cooking over coals, in both our homes; the ancient woodland at Home Farm in Devon and Ben's beloved craggy St Agnes beach in Cornwall.
Celebrating our new partnership with Cornish Sea Salt, Ben carefully crafted a collection of recipes that we know you'll love making as much as eating - and we can't wait for you to make memories of your own around the fire.
