Cheddar Curd

Cheddar curd will be available for delivery from Tuesday 15th September. 

The Cheddar Curd will have at least 14 days before it's best before date. Once opened it will keep for 7 days. Keep refrigerated. Suitable for freezing.

We're very excited to introduce our cheddar curd, available to buy online in 600g bags.

This really is the most glorious and moreish stuff with  a mild, salty and savoury flavour.

Perfect to snack on straight from the packet or pop it onto pizzas, where it melts beautifully, or add it to dishes such as cauliflower cheese for an extra cheesy boost. It's also delicious incorporated into potato gratins and other comforting, cheesy dishes.

How is cheddar curd made?

Cheddar curd is made as part of our cheesemaking process. We start with the milk from our herd, which is gently heated before cultures and rennet are added to encourage the milk to set into a firm curd.

The curd is then cut into small pieces, allowing the whey to drain away. As the cheesemaking continues, the curds are cooked and stirred before being cut into slabs and turned in a process known as cheddaring. This is what gives cheddar its distinctive character and texture.

For our cheddar curd, the fresh curds are packed while they are still young and wonderfully springy, rather than being pressed into a full cheese, bound in cloth and left to mature.

Effectively, it's very young cheese. We just don't leave it to mature.

How to enjoy cheddar curd

• Eat it fresh: Straight from the bag, it makes a wonderfully moreish snack.
• Add it to pizza: Scatter over your pizza before baking and watch it melt into delicious, cheesy pockets.
• Cook with it: Add it to cauliflower cheese, potato gratins and other comforting dishes.
• Make poutine: Top crispy chips with cheddar curd and rich gravy.
