Our people are at the heart of what we do. Crafting greatness relies on many hands and minds working together as one. We recently spoke to our Spring Herd Manager Shaun Love, who shared with us what it is like working at Quicke's and of course his favourite cheese!  

How long have you been working at Quicke's?

2 and a half years.   

What time does your day start?

As early as 4.30am.

What is the best part of your day?

Fetching the cows in for morning milking, it's so quiet and peaceful. Especially nice when it's light but still enjoyable in the dark. 

Is there a particular month you prefer working on the farm? 

March when things are rapidly starting to awaken from winter.

What is your favourite memory so far? 

Completing calving this year, it was the biggest challenge I've ever faced and I was pleased to have accomplished it, especially as the weather was against us!  

What is the best part of your job/ working at Quicke's?

Getting to live and work amongst the beautiful countryside, something I've really appreciated during lockdown! 

If we could give you a lifetime supply of any of our cheeses, which one would it be and why?

Vintage, such strong flavours! 

Our cheese is made with 3 primary ingredients ( milk, sea salt & time). What are the main ingredients in your life and work? eg good food, being outdoors, friends/ family.

Cows, foods and friends.  

What would you do for a living if you were not a Herdsperson?

I was convinced I wanted to be a dairy farmer from a very young age, but I also considered becoming a police officer.
