Sandford Orchards X Ben Cider
This is a very special Vintage Straw Pressed Fine Cider created by our friends at Sandford Orchards Cider in collaboration with Ben Collins, formerly known as The Stig. Not only does it pair beautifully with our Mature Cheddar, the cider itself was made on Emma's family farm (Emma is our Shop/Online Manager and Farm Secretary).
Using a centuries-old, single screw, Devon straw press, Ben and Barny of Sandford Orchards hand-pressed apples from an ancient orchard at Prowse Farm, which contains a unique collection of cider varieties.
The result of their labours is a spectacular cider with a burgundy hue and notes of grapefruit and melon running through a classic Devonian bittersweet farmhouse blend. It is a fine cider with truly extraordinary lineage, born in the nineteenth century. Slowly fermented and naturally bright and unfiltered, a whisper of yeast may remain as a final reminder: this is living history in a bottle.

Since most of our products are perishable, all parcels must be signed for. If you think you might be out when the postman calls, please include full delivery instructions such as ‘leave in the shed/ porch/ with a neighbour’. We're very proud of our handmade artisan cheeses.
