Come and see all of the farm produce at Quickes Cheese Shop, based at the farm in Newton St Cyres. The shop stocks the whole range of Quickes Cheddars plus our own handmade whey butter and ice cream. We pride ourselves in stocking only produce of the highest standard, all being sourced from the West Country, from like minded artisan producers. In the deli counter we also carry a number of other West Country produced cheeses such as Cornish Blue, Sharpham Rustic, Cornish Yarg, Beenleigh Blue, to name but a few. In the freezer we have a wide range of meats, again all from the West Country, ranging from Pork, Lamb, Partridge, Venison, the list is endless. Other gems you will find in the store include handmade chocolates from Somerset, tea made in Cornwall, honey made in Exmouth and free range eggs from Yeoford.
The Cheese Shop also offers you the option to put together your own hamper, the ideal present. The Quickes cheeses are stocked in the deli counter and also in pre packs in the freezer, which enables you to be able to send the cheese with that extra piece of mind, as the prepacks have a shelf life of 90 days. Also the shop carries some of our 1.8 kg cheddar truckles, whilst is just the ultimate present for all those cheese enthusiasts out there.
Whilst in the shop take a look at our Cheese Maturing Room, once pressed the cheeses are stored, wrapped in muslin cloth in one of our maturing rooms. It is run at 8-10ºC with a relative humidity of 90%. These conditions allow the cheeses to breathe as they mature and the complex flavours to develop. An outer rind forms due to the evaporation of moisture and the beautiful texture of the cheese is produced. Cheeses are matured for up to 24 months!
